It has been an incredibly busy couple of months since we moved down to San Diego! With that in mind, I'll go ahead and plead "hectic, crazy, busy" for the lack of updating. :)
To update everyone on where we are now: We're very happily moved into our cute townhouse and we're loving the amount of space it has. (Of course, when you have a pre-schooler careening through the halls it tends to feel somewhat smaller.) Jake is growing like a weed and will be starting pre-school at the beginning of next month. He's absolutely thrilled and we're working on getting the basics down before he goes. He absolutely, steadfastedly REFUSES to believe that Green is in fact, Green. Instead he will insist that it is Red. (I've considered the possibility of color-blindness but was told that it doesn't work that way, sooo... we're just going to chalk it up to Burnett stubborness)
The Twins (I always sort of refer to them like this in my head, capitalization and all) are acting like anything but twins. They absolutely refuse to have anything to do with each other, except when you lay them side to side and they commence to box like prizefighters (much to Ryan's continued amusement). They are as different and two babies could be. Logan is very active and will sort of inch his way across the room in the space it takes you to go into the kitchen and come back. (I'm convinced the kid has learned how to teleport.) He's still waking up at 3 a.m. on the dot nightly, no matter how much I plead, pray, cajole or bribe him otherwise. (Once again, Burnett stubborness)
Aiden is very mellow. He doesn't really cry much... just enough to let you know that he is a.)hungry b.)needs a diaper change or c.) hates his current position. He's sleeping through the night (HALLELUJAH!) and eats like a champ. Both of them are starting down the long road to teething and its getting to be so.much.fun. Oy.
But, for all that... they are absolutely adorable and perfectly healthy in every way. We are definitely blessed.
We were so very excited that we got to have Liz and Connor out for Christmas this year. With airfare spiking so much near November we were worried that it was going to be too pricey. Thankfully, some expert deal searching managed to nab us an awesome fare (even if we had to drive in/out of L.A. to do it.) :)
We spent a fantastic couple of days out at the beaches. Liz and Connor were thrilled at the idea of going to the beach when Utah is covered in snow. We hit Ocean Beach and the tide pools where we managed to find shells, anenomes and a very terrified hermit crab. (If any of you have ever seen Connor go after a lizard you can appreciate the terror this poor crab experienced.) We also got to go out to the beach at the Coronado NAS (Ben's base). It was a lot of fun playing at a nearly deserted beach. We had the entire thing almost entirely to ourselves. Lizzy was so impressed with the fact that she could see Mexico from where we were. :) Both of them have gotten so tall! Liz was tall enough that I could rest my chin on the top of her head and Connor was only an inch or so shorter. Liz is just beautiful and so smart. She's so much fun to talk too and just so very loving. Connor is a "Boy's Boy". If he hasn't finished the day covered head to toe in grass stains, dirt, grime and something unidentifiable ... well, he hasn't finished the day. It's so much fun to hang out with him and hear the things he has to say. I can't wait till they're here this summer. They've already extracted promises of Disneyland and SeaWorld from us.
Anyway, I've got a ton of pictures to upload so I'll go ahead and get those up. I'm almost out of naptime. :)
Love to you all!
